Want to Join our Committee?
Our AGM is coming up on 18 September, and we’d love to see you there. If you’re interested in being part of the Manuherekia Catchment Group’s decision-making body, we’d love to hear from you.
What we’re doing at MCG matters; and it’s already having a lasting impact on our land and water, with benefits for generations to come.
Do you have a strong understanding of the catchment, the needs of irrigators, and the aspirations of our communities? Committee members attend monthly meetings, some in person, some online, and there’s a modest amount of reading involved.

Calling Resolution Software Users
Do you use Resolution Farm Management Software and live in the Manuherekia Catchment? We’d love your input!
We’re currently developing a sediment mapping tool to support landowners with freshwater farm planning and environmental decision-making. We’re exploring how this tool could link with Resolution software to provide even more useful data insights.
If you’re a Resolution user and interested in being involved, we’d really value your help, so please flick us an email at admin@mcg.org.nz so we can get in touch.
Submission on Freshwater Changes
We’re currently preparing our submission to government on the proposed changes to freshwater rules. Once finalised, we’ll share it on our website, so keep an eye out.
Freshwater Monitoring Results Coming Soon
Understanding our catchment means gathering evidence about how the river performs during the irrigation season. We’ll be sharing the latest results on our website in the coming weeks, along with expert analysis of the trends.
IrrigationNZ Chief Executive Visit
In early May, we hosted Karen Williams, Chief Executive of Irrigation New Zealand, for a tour of the Manuherekia catchment. The visit was a great opportunity to showcase our local infrastructure and discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead for our catchment and wider farming community.
