Wetlands in the Manuherekia
Our Wetlands Project has now been completed, following an Expressions of Interest process that saw us working with 11 properties to restore 13 wetlands across the catchment. The project involved fencing waterways to protect them from stock, controlling invasive weeds such as crack willow, and carrying out extensive riparian planting to enhance biodiversity and water quality. All resources developed through this project are available on this webpage to support landowners who wish to protect and restore wetlands on their own properties in the future.
Our Generic Wetland Management Plans are designed to support local landowners in identifying, understanding, and protecting wetlands on their properties. These plans offer practical guidance on how to recognise wetland features, assess their condition, and take appropriate steps to enhance and maintain their ecological health. Whether you're looking to restore a degraded wetland or simply ensure an existing one continues to thrive, this resource provides a helpful starting point for responsible and effective wetland stewardship.
